I was so happy to see this 3-year-old play space come to a toy store in my hometown. Manhattan Toy is located on Franklin St. in South Bend, IN. I love seeing independent toy stores continue to grow and support this community. They just opened a store in Green Bay, WI, and this is their second in the South Bend area.
That's right, a toy store in the small town of South Bend, IN is going to sell a rocket ship called The First Space Heavier-Than-Air (FSHA) by Fresh Air Toys, also based in South Bend. It is available now at the new Manhattan Toy store and will be in all Manhattan Toy stores by the end of June.
This rocket ship will get kids excited about science and space exploration. It comes with eight separate minifigures to play with and a space suit with helmet. The characters were designed by Ryan McDonnell, from South Bend's Curry School of Art.
The rest of the build is pretty simple. Kids don't need any tools to play with this thing. Just snap in the components, pick up a battery and blast off! The limited edition rocket ship retails for $24.99. You can preorder it online for $19.95, if you are interested.

Grand Rapids Art Museum
The museum is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, which is known as the Art Capital of West Michigan. Right on the riverfront, it has a million-dollar collection of American, European, and Asian art, with a special focus on African, Asian and Pre-Columbian art.
The brewery visited the museum a couple years ago to give a brewing class to visitors. They said the experience was so much fun, they wanted to brew a beer to celebrate it.
According to their site,
This collaboration brew highlights the long history of collaboration between Art Museum and Brewery. Founders Brewing Company founded the Museum in 1989 with the first location in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Grand Rapids Art Museum opened the second location in 2001. Since then, the partnership has grown and continues to grow. The FBC #6: Founders Brew Project celebrates this relationship with a 100% made in-house pale ale, which features the muse of the Grand Rapids Art Museum on the bottle. The muse is part of the 9-panel installation "Western Spirit: Perspectives on the Politics of Commerce," by Kara Walker. This monumental artwork, currently on view at the Grand Rapids Art Museum, consists of nine scenes of slaves and abolitionists engaged in a conversation. The scene featured on the FBC #6 bottle was commissioned by the Art Museum for the African Art Exposition in 1893, and includes a likeness of the modern-day civil rights activist, Ella Baker.
Everything about the image right now screams of potential.
This is the first sighting of Red Dead’s John Marston since the 2014 Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer, and he’s in a rugged surroundings that couldn’t be further from the regular Western-themed settings of the past two games.
There is a mention in the trailer of the Wild West and I’m guessing this is one of the main settings in the game. With the likelihood of a single-player campaign, this is where Red Dead Redemption 2 is based.
In a press release this week, Rockstar also unveiled that the game will be available for Playstation 4 and Xbox One.
The company said, “Developed by Rockstar North, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the epic story of outlaw Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang as they rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America in order to survive. The game is the sequel to the 2010 critically acclaimed Red Dead Redemption, one of the best-selling games of all time. In addition to exploring new locations, playing as multiple characters and experimenting with collaborative offline and online play, players will also encounter other enemies and adversaries while destroying the infamous Van der Linde gang.”
A couple of years ago, rumours surfaced that the game could include a potential “killer app” feature to the PlayStation 4 Pro. This is a big deal in the video game world, as it allows console owners to experience enhanced graphics.
Killer app or not, I’m happy that we’ll be getting a new Red Dead game. The first game was a huge hit.
As of writing, the full listing of the full trailer is not available. I don’t have the time or inclination to go search for it, but here is a small section of what the promotional description says:
“Join legendary outlaw Arthur Morgan in his epic journey across the vast and rugged heart of America in Red Dead Redemption 2. Fight, ride and steer your way across the vast open world. Experience firsthand the life of an outlaw in a land where fairness doesn’t mean everything is equal. Fierce rivals, desperate enemies and relentless pursuers will all pose a threat to your outlaw dreams as you rob, fight and steal your way across the vast land of Rockstar’s epic next-gen adventure.”
When I did a post on the first Red Dead Redemption in 2011, I asked whether the game might make you wish there was a season pass.
